EU Legal Guarantee

Goods bought in the European Union come with a minimum two-year legal guarantee of conformity from the seller. This protection is free of charge, and it applies in addition to any commercial guarantee that may be offered.

If goods do not match their description or do not work as intended, the seller must repair or replace them at no cost. In certain cases you may instead be entitled to a price reduction or a full refund of the purchase price.

To make a claim, report the problem to the seller as soon as possible and provide proof of purchase — for example a receipt, an invoice or a bank statement.

In some countries the legal guarantee period is longer. For used goods it may be shorter, but never less than one year. The official European Commission notice below sets out these rights in full.
